Hyundai Prices Refreshed 2012 Genesis Sedan, 429HP 5.0 R-Spec Model Starts from $47,350

We had our first motor show look at the facelifted 2012 Hyundai Genesis sedan earlier this winter in Chicago, but now, as it reaches dealers across the country, the South Korean automaker is ready to talk about pricing. In the U.S., buyers can choose from three models, the entry-level 3.8 V6 starting at $34,200, the 4.6 V8 priced at $44,500 and the all-new 5.0 R-Spec with a starting price at $46,500. Hyundai Preparing New Elantra Coupe, Azera and Genesis R-Spec with 429HP V8

After registering record sales in 2010, Hyundai seems committed to an all-out offensive with the company reportedly planning to launch a coupe version of the 2011 Elantra and the new Azera sedan in the U.S. within the next year or so. According to an Autoweek report, the news was broken at the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) convention in San Francisco, where the Korean automaker also showed its dealers a photo of the upcoming coupe.

“They showed us a photo of it and it's gorgeous,” said Doug Fox, a Hyundai dealer from Ann Arbor, Michigan. “We weren't expecting that.”

2011 Hyundai Genesis facelift spied

Hyundai is wasting no time revising the Genesis mid-sized executive sedan. Spied testing in Death Valley, CA and somewhere in South Korea, the 2011 Genesis will take on some minor changes . The Genesis has only been on sale for 2 years – it was launched as a 2009MY in mid 2008.

Numerous alterations will be apparent like reshaped front bumper with new lower air intakes, LED day-time running lights, front/side/rear skirts, rear chrome trim, and revised rear bumper incorporating faux Lexus LS like dual exhausts.

Internally, very little change is visible, with the exception of a BMW-like iDrive system. This is likely to operate a new 8 speed automatic transmission, recently announced by Hyundai. Under the hood, the 290bhp 3.8 litre V6 Lambda and 385bhp 4.6 litre V8 Tau engines will be improved for better fuel economy and power. For 2011, an all-new 5.0 litre V8 will debut, which is expected to generate 429bhp. The new V8 will also be used in the larger Equus sedan. It is probable that Hyundai will also use their new GDI (gasoline direct-injection) engines.

The facelifted Genesis will go on sale in Australia mid-2011.
