2011 Acura TSX Sedan Review

The 2011 Acura TSX features a new wagon body style called the Sport Wagon. The Sport Wagon comes standard with the TSX's 201-horsepower, 2.4-liter inline-4 engine and five-speed automatic transmission. Although enthusiasts might prefer that this new Acura wagon be a rival to the sportier Audi A4 Avant and BMW 328i wagon by combining a V6 engine, a manual Linktransmission and all-wheel drive, the reality is that the TSX Sport Wagon offers balanced performance in nearly every dynamic category as well as superior fuel economy. The 2011 Acura TSX is a compact entry-level luxury sedan available in base, wagon and V6 trim levels. The front-wheel-drive TSX is available with a choice of two engines. In Edmunds testing, a manual four-cylinder TSX sedan loped to 60 mph from a standstill in an unremarkable 7.7 seconds. The automatic sedan and Sport Wagon both crossed the lights about a second slower.

Estimated EPA fuel economy estimates for the four-cylinder automatic TSX sedan are 22 mpg city/31 mpg highway and 26 combined; the manual version drops to 21/29/24.

Standard safety equipment on the 2011 TSX includes antilock brakes (with brake assist), stability control, traction control, active head restraints, front seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags. The Sport Wagon came to a halt in 127 feet.

The Sport Wagon opens up even more room, delivering nearly 61 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded down.

"The 2011 TSX offers even better looks, more owner relevant technology and class-leading fuel economy," said Jeff Conrad, vice president of Acura sales.

The updated front end teams with new underbody panels to improve aerodynamics. At the rear, revised taillights and an updated rear license plate garnish add more visual appeal for the TSX.

Acura is known for its outstanding array of user relevant technology, and the 2011 TSX further expands on this concept. New for 2011, the TSX with available Technology Package now includes an LED backlit full VGA navigation screen (that generates 400-percent better resolution than before), improved navigation system functions (faster performance, improved search ability and expanded map coverage), Song By Voice™ (SBV) user interface, a 60-gigabyte hard disk drive (HDD) system, and the ability to download 15-gigabytes of personal music to the HDD system.

The 2011 TSX sedan remains fun to drive thanks to two powerful engine choices with class-leading fuel efficiency; a spirited 2.4L inline four cylinder engine and a torque 3.5L V-6. For 2011, both engines receive numerous improvements to reduce internal operating friction which help improve fuel economy, lower carbon dioxide (CO2) output and increase engine life.

The 2011 Acura TSX rides calmly and quietly at highway speeds thanks to thicker glass and improved acoustic insulation.

Split 5-spoke 18-inch aluminum wheels remain standard on the TSX sedan with 3.5 L V-6 engines.

2011 Acura TSX

2011 Acura TSX
 2011 Acura TSX
Available in both sedan and – new for 2011 – wagon forms, the 2011 Acura TSX is Acura’s entry level model in the United States. Its 2.4-liter four-cylinder and 3.5-liter V6 powertrains are mostly carried over for the new model year, but small modifications to reduce friction have increased fuel economy by 1 mpg for both city and highway across the board.
2011 Acura TSX
The 201-horsepower, 172 lb-ft. of torque 2.4-liter (170 lb-ft. with the optional automatic) is rated at 22/31 (automatic, 21/29 manual) in the sedan and 22/30 in the automatic-only wagon. A five-speed automatic and six-speed manual are essentially carried over for 2011.
2011 Acura TSX
Available only on the sedan and only with an automatic transmission, a 3.5-liter V6 cranks out 280 horsepower and 254 lb-ft. of torque. It sips fuel at a rate of 19 mpg urban and 28 mpg highway.
2011 Acura TSX
Aside from styling changes, which modify the front and rear fascias, the 2011 Acura TSX gains new alloy wheel designs and acoustic windshield glass and upgraded sound insulation. Inside, the center console is mildly revised, while contrasting stitching is added to the standard leather seats. An optional upgraded navigation system now boasts an LED backlit display, a 60GB hard drive capable of storing 15GB of music and Song By Voice interfacing.
2011 Acura TSX
Set to go on sale November 23, the 2011 TSX will start from $29,610 for both manual and automatic transmission 2.4-liter sedans. Adding the Technology Package pushes the MSRP to $32,710, while the V6 starts at $35,150. Those prices represent a $300 increase over 2010.

With wagons appearing to come back in favor in the U.S., Acura has joined the growing trend with its all-new 2011 Acura TSX Sport Wagon. Based on the 2011 Acura TSX sedan platform, Acura says the Sport Wagon is intended to offer a balance of a dose of driving performance and more versatile cargo carrying capability than the standard sedan.
2011 Acura TSX wagon
Pricing for the Sport Wagon starts at $31,820, which includes a mandatory $860 destination charge. The pricing represents a roughly $1,400 premium over Sport Wagon's sedan counterpart.
The $3,650 Technology Package mostly mirrors the conventional four-door 2011 Acura TSX by adding goodies like navigation, a rearview camera, an upgraded ELS audio system. Unlike the sedan, a power liftgate comes with the package.
2011 Acura TSX wagon
The 2011 Acura TSX Sport Wagon comes with just one powertrain configuration: A five-speed automatic transmission mated to a 2.4-liter, 201-horsepower four-cylinder gasoline engine, which Acura says is good for 30 mpg on the highway, and 22 mpg in the city.
Like the sedan, the Sport Wagon is sporting an all-new front fascia that includes a revised chin spoiler, new fog light garnish assembly and an updated grille. The updated front end teams with new (to the sedan) underbody panels to improve aerodynamics.
2011 Acura TSX wagon
Now, when one opts for a wagon over a sedan they are most likely doing so with utility and hauling in mind, so the Sport Wagon features 60.5 cubic feet of rear cargo area (with rear seats folded down; 25.8 cu-ft with the seats up). Loading the vehicle will have to come through the wagon's rear opening height of approximately 28-inches.
2011 Acura TSX wagon
In addition to the traditional rear storage space, the Sport wagon also features four hidden compartments for out-of-sight storage. A 2.4 cu-ft storage area is located beneath a lift-up hatch within the load floor. Smaller items can be placed in a 0.2 cu-ft storage area (hidden by a removable panel) located in the side panel on the driver side, or in one of two 13-inch long storage areas near the main in-floor storage area.

The rear seats come in a 60/40 fold-down design, allowing one section to be lowered to generate more cargo room while the other section can remain in the up position to accommodate a rear seat passenger. Or, both seats can be folded down to attain the maximum cargo area replete with a load-flat floor that is nearly 70-inches long, complete with a variety of tie-down hooks for keeping cargo items secure.

2011 Acura ZDX

2011 Acura ZDX
Obviously some of the ZDX concept vehicle's details have been toned-down, but the production ZDX is, for the most part, very true to the show car that turned many heads. The radically sloping roofline is the most obvious concept feature to make production, giving the ZDX more of a car look than the BMW X6.
2011 Acura ZDX
Despite that sloping roofline, the 2011 acura ZDX offers an adequate amount of cargo storage. With the rear seat up, the 2011 Acura ZDX offers 26.3 cubic feet of rear cargo space. That figure expands to 55.8 cubic feet with the rear seats folded flat.
When first inspecting a ZDX one will face Acura's new signature front grille. Inside, the ZDX's interior is very similar to that found in the TL sedan. A navigation screen is mounted high atop the center stack, with plenty of hooding to protect it from outside light. The center stack has the same overall layout as the TL, although it is a bit more sculpted. The ZDX also features Acura's quad-pack gauge cluster.
2011 Acura ZDX
Power for the 2011 Acura ZDX comes from Honda's 3.7-liter V6, tuned to produce 300 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. Power is routed through a six-speed automatic, eventually meeting the pavement at all four corners via Acura's Super Handling All-Wheel Drive.
Fuel economy for the ZDX is rated at 16/22 mpg city/highway.
2011 Acura ZDX
The 2011 Acura ZDX is available in three trim levels --2011 Acura ZDX, ZDX with Technology Package and ZDX with Advance Package. The base model 2011 Acura ZDX will come very well equipped -- sporting a panoramic glass roof, hand stitched leather, Bluetooth, power tailgate and CD stereo with USB and iPod connectivity. The Technology Package trim level will add voice activated navigation, upgrade stereo and rear-view camera while the Advance Package will up the ante to include a blind spot information system, Collision Mitigating Braking System and Adaptive Cruise Control.
2011 Acura ZDX
Buyers with towing needs will be forced to skip over the Acura ZDX as it is only rated to tow a car-like 1,500 pounds.
